Habitat: on large granite outcrop complex rising to 30 feet above surrounding landscape. In shallow loamy soil between areas of exposed bedrock. In full sun. Associated species include Andropogon gerardii, Sorghastrum nutans, Allium stellatum, Rhus glabra, Ambrosia coronopifolia, Lespedeza capitata, Poa compressa.
