Habitat: in small kettle-hole bog (poor fen) in strongly-rolling wooded terrain; In wet Sphagnum on floating sedge mat; In full sun to partial shade of stunted Larix laricina. Associates include Carex limosa, C. chordorrhiza, C. lasiocarpa, Eriophorum chamissonis, E. gracile, Dulichium arundinaceum, Vaccinium macrocarpon, Salix pedicellaris, Menyanthes trifoliats.
