Habitat: in tamarack swamp under denser, more mature canopy of Larix laricina. On moist liverwort hummock. Associates include Caltha palustris, Rubus puescens, Carex leptalea, C. disperma, Lycopus uniflorus, Equiseetum fluviatile, Parthenocissus inserta, Betula glandulifera, Toxicodendron rydbergii.
