Habitat: Rolling moraine ... in small (five-acre) poor fen in center of 30-acre basin (remainder of basin is poor black spruce - tamarack swamp). Deep, moderately quaky, saturted peat. Continuous Sphagnum moss carpet. Full sun to partial shade of stunted Picea mariana and Larix laricina. Associated species include Chamaedaphne calyculata, Vaccinium oxycoccus, Sarracenia purpurea, Smilacina trifolia, Carex limosa, C. lasiocarpa, and seedlings of Picea mariana and Larix laricina.
