Habitat: along foot slopes. Canopy dominated by Betula papyrifera interrupted with small Abies balsamea to 4 m tall in shrub layers. Diervilla lonicera covers large portion of slope with Sorbus decora. Rubus parviflorus, Aralia nudicaulis, Cornus canadensis, Acer spicatum, Carex leptonervia, Lonicera hirsuta.
