Habitat: Level outwash plain. Frequent in old pasture dominated here by Phleum pratense and Poa pratensis. In partial shade of scattered Populus tremuloides and Quercus ellipsoidalis. Fairly moist sandy soil, just slightly above the level of adjacent wet meadow. Leaves of many rosettes (those plants lacking stems/reproductive parts) with quite large terminal lobe, often more pronounced than those of fertile plants. Yellow petals. Additional associates include Solidago canadensis, Cirsium arvense, Fragaria virginiana
