Habitat: Level outwash plain. Occasional in old pasture dominated by Poa pratensis and Bromus inermis; in area that formerly supported jack pine woodland. Most plants in full sun; some partially shaded by scattered, large, open-grown Pinus banksiana. Forming loose clumps in sandy soil.
