Habitat: Local on large granite outcrop rising 70 feet above the river. Partial to full shade of Populus grandidentata, Tilia americana, Quercus macrocarpa, Q. ellipsoidalis, and Juniperus virginiana. Very local on small, west-facing, lower slope cliffs; sporadic on moderately steep upper slope. Dense patches in bedrock crevices and moss mats. Associated species include Agrostis scabra, Aquilegia canadensis, Galium boreale, Cystopteris fragilis, Woodsia ilvensis, Potentilla arguta, Corydalis sempervirens, Triodanis
