Locality: United States, Minnesota, Olmsted, Along the Whitewater River Logan Branch five miles east-southeast of Plainview. Local atop a narrow hog's-back ridge 1/2 mile upstream of the confluence with the North Fork Whitewater River. SE1/4 of NE1/4 of SE1/4 Sec. 4, Whitewater State Wildlife Management Area

Habitat: Small sparse patch on a gentle northwest-facing slope ~100 feet above the river. Mesic pine-hardwood forest dominated by large Pinus strobus, with occasional Quercus alba and Q. rubra. Understory of Pinus strobus, Ostrya virginiana, Carpinus caroliniana, and Viburnum lentago. Clay loam; thick needle litter. Low shrubs, to ~12 inches tall.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Geranium maculatum, Anemone quinquefolia, Polemonium reptans, Sanguinaria canadensis, Mitella diphylla, Phlox divaricata, Pteridium aquilinum, Toxicodendron rydbergii.
