Habitat:
Several small patches encountered in moss mats on lower ledges of 30- to 40-foot diabase cliff. Shaded by Betula papyrifera and Quercus rubra growing at the base of the cliff, and by slightly overhanging bedrock above the ledges.

Associated species include Poa glauca, Rubus strigosus.
