Habitat:
Rare and local in large expanse of mature to old growth northern maple-basswood forest. Gradual east-facing slope on upper portion of 150-foot ridge. Canopy dominated by Tilia americana and Acer saccharum, with scattered Betula allegheniensis. Understory mostly Acer saccharum. Rocky loamy soil. Loose to rather dense patch covers ~500 feet2.
