tree fern, to 5 m in height, DBH 8 cm, trunk height to foliage 1.4 m, crown height 3.6 m, crown width 1.6 m, spines or thorns present; foliage 0.3 kg mature wet mass; outer bark rough; bark black; cambium black, brown, orange; wood white, cream; exudate absent, from felled plot. Local name: kodilom Local use: timber for house and shed construction; leaves are edible and used as cushions
