Habitat: Local at the base of 50-foot granitic cliffs, on the extremely steep lower portion of a 200-foot, southeast-facing slope on the shore of Cuckoo Lake. Scattered clumps in shallow soil over broad lower ledges of the mostly quite dry cliff and in shallow soil pockets amongst the upper talus. Full sun. In area burned by an intense 2006 wildfire.
Associated Species: Associates include Calamagrostis canadensis, Polygonum cilinode, Potentilla arguta, Euthamia graminifolia, Achillea millefolium, Toxicodendron rydbergii, Spiraea alba, Prunus virginiana.
