Habitat: Local on the lower portion of a steep, 120-foot, south-facing slope between North Cone and Ida Lakes. Rather dense patch in talus below 40-foot granitic cliffs. On angular talus blocks ~4-30 inches diameter; in ecotone where the larger blocks of the lower open talus zone transition to a narrow upper semi-forested zone with smaller pieces of rock and more soil accumulation between them. Full sun to partial shade of Pinus strobus, Picea mariana, and Prunus virginiana. Low shrubs, to ~30 inches tall.
Associated Species: Associates include Parthenocissus inserta, Prunus virginiana, Corylus cornuta.
