Habitat: Rare in lowland white cedar forest along a gently-sloping ephemeral drainage west of the Brule Lake Hiking Trail. Patchy to interrupted canopy of Thuja occidentalis, with occasional Betula papyrifera, B. cordifolia, and Picea mariana. Alnus incana in a rather sparse understory. Moist organic soil.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Athyrium angustum, Thelypteris phegopteris, Dryopteris expansa, Lycopodium lucidulum, Linnaea borealis, Coptis groenlandica, Rubus pubescens, Mitella nuda, Cornus canadensis, Carex trisperma, Lonicera canadensis.
