Habitat:
Occasional in a series of vernal wetlands in small (~1/4-acre) basins east of Gore Lake. Full sun to partially shaded by the surrounding forest (Betula papyrifera, Abies balsamea, Picea mariana, Pinus strobus, Thuja occidentalis). Moist to rather dry shallow organic substrate (dry due to an extended drought).

Associates include Glyceria borealis, Torreyochloa pallida, Carex vesicaria, C. arcta, C. retrorsa, Mentha arvensis, Epilobium ciliatum, Galium trifidum, Sparganium minimum, Veronica scutellata, Sium suave, Hippuris vulgaris.
