Found near the northwest shoreline of McCarron Lake (ID 62005400), a 75 acre mesotrophic basin situated in the St. Paul-Baldwin Plains Ecological Subsection. Water clarity high. Individuals locally abundant, floating on the surface of the water.

Associates include Wolffia borealis, W. columbiana, Spirodela polyrrhiza, Lemna turionifera, Nymphaea odorata subsp. tuberosa, Ceratophyllum demersum, Typha angustifolia.
