Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Superior National Forest. Approximately 10.8 km northwest of the intersection of Hwy 1 and New Tomahawk Rd and 3.0 km south of the intersection of Hwy 1 and Spruce Rd.

Habitat: at edge of a wet meadow, near base of slope. About half producing flowers. Adjacent forest is fire-dependent. Boulders abundant beneath soil. Full sun.
Associated Species: Associated species include Calamagrostis canadensis, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Equisetum sylvaticum, Rubus idaeus, Rubus pubescens, Dryopteris cristata, Picea mariana, Potentilla palustris, and Lycopus uniflorus.
