Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; Along the Snowbank Hiking Trail in strongly rolling bedrock terrain on the northwest side of Snowbank Lake, 20 miles east-northeast of Ely.

Elevation: 442 meters
Verbatim Elevation: 1450 feet
Habitat: Local near the hiking trail in mesic pine forest. Patchy to quite open canopy (due to 1999 windstorm) of young Abies balsamea, Betula papyrifera and Populus tremuloides, and occasional large Pinus banksiana and P. strobus. Tall dense shrub layer of Corylus cornuta, Cornus rugosa, and Acer spicatum. Rocky silt. Loose patch of several dozen plants, these to ~18 inches tall.
Associated Species: Additional associates include Aster macrophyllus, Pteridium aquilinum, Aralia nudicaulis, Rubus pubescens, R. parviflorus, Diervilla lonicera.
