Habitat:
Localoly common in second-growth wet-mesic hardwood forest, in a broad ecotone between sedge meadow and mesic hardwood forest. Canopy dominated by Populus tremuloides, with occasional Fraxinus nigra, Quercus macrocarpa, and Tilia americana. Large and often dense patches. Silty-clay with numerous stones.
