Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; Fairly rugged bedrock terrain southwest of Hoist Bay, Basswood Lake, 11 miles northeast of Ely; north of the Four Mile Portage.

Habitat: Local in poor conifer swamp surrounding a small (~1/4-acre) bog pond. Partial shade of Picea mariana. In a somewhat transitional setting between the pond and the surrounding spruce bog. Continuous Sphagnum carpets. Saturated peat. Forming large loose patches, mostly in hollows and on lower hummocks.
Associated Species: Associates include Eriophorum virginicum, Carex pauciflora, Chamaedaphne calyculata, Kalmia polifolia, Vaccinium oxycoccus, Andromeda glaucophylla, Smilacina trifolia, Sarracenia purpurea, Calopogon tuberosus.
