Locality: United States, Minnesota, Lake, Rugged bedrock terrain north of the Fernberg Road, near the southwest end of Moose Lake, 15 miles east-southeast of Ely.

Verbatim Elevation: 1450 feet
Habitat: Local, occasional to abundant in dry talus at the base of a 20- to 70-foot, south-facing, basaltic (Knife Lake Group) cliff. Full sun to partial shade of Populus tremuloides and Betula papyrifera. Forming loose to dense patches. Larger plants are quite robust, 3-4 feet tall. Some plants rooted in bedrock crevices along the base of the cliff.
Associated Species: Associates include Rubus strigosus, Ribes oxyacanthoides, Amelanchier spp., Lonicera dioica, Sorbus decora, Cornus rugosa, Prunus virginiana, Aquilegia canadensis, Corydalis sempervirens.
