Habitat: Local and uncommon in dry sand prairie and oak savanna located in dunes of Glacial Lake Agassiz. Prairie dominated by Schizachyrium scoparium, Hesperostipa comata, Poa pratensis, Koeleria macrantha, Rhus glabra, Hesperostipa spartea.
Substrate: Sand.
Associated Species: Associated species: Dalea villosa, Carex inops, Dichanthelium wilcoxianum, Artemisia ludoviciana, Orobanche ludoviciana, Tradescantia occidentalis, other lichens and bryophytes.
