Habitat: Varied abundance from scattered multi-stemmed plants to dense lakeshore shrub border up to 1 m tall and 2 m wide. Rooted in moist/wet soil with adventitious roots on stems which dip into the lake. Leaves fragrant when crushed.
Associated Species: Commonly associated with Alnus incana ssp. rugosa.
