Habitat: Maple-basswood forest on the NE shore ... on the White Earth Moraine, soil is predominately loam. Growing on edge of trail in partial sun with Acer saccharum and Ostrya virginiana in the immediate canopy. Other ground layer associates include Aralia racemosa, Rubus idaeus, Uvularia grandiflora, Corylus americana, Arctium minus, Cornus alternifolia, Desmodium glutinosum.
