Habitat:
On low, streamside terrace along the east bank ... in old-growth stand dominated by Thuja occidentalis, with occasional Picea glauca & Betula allegheniensis. Well-drained silty soil. Associates include Carex pedunculata, Thelypteris phegopteris, Clintonia borealis, Aster macrophyllus, Athyrium angustum, Aralia nudicaulis, Streptopus roseus, Gymnocarpium dryopteris, Rubus parviflorus, Lonicera canadensis.
