Habitat: in a Larix swamp with near-continuous Sphagnum spp. ground cover and a notably abundant mid-canopy woody layer. Associates: Larix laricina, Alnus incana, Acer rubrum, Ledum groenlandicum, Cornus canadensis and Carex spp. Soils: peat >40cm.
