Habitat: In a brushy thicket adjacent to an oak-aspen forest ... Associated with Corylus americana, Prunus virginiana, Symphoricarpos occidentalis, Crataegus macracantha, C. punctata.
Description: A large shrub with 6 stems; the largest stem 3 m tall, 5 cm basal diameter. Stamens ca 10, anthers white. No compound thorns, simple thorns numerous. Est 2-3 days past peak anthesis (spring 2 weeks early this year). Collected from the same stem as WRS27572 (fruiting specimen).
