Habitat: disturbed mesic to dry prairie remnant on gravelly rise in large wetland complex. Black, gravelly loam. Full sun. Associates include Amorpha canescens, A. nana, Rosa cf. arkansana, Smilacina stellata, Sisyrinchium montanum, Commandra umbellata, Solidago gigantea, Galium boreale, Viola pedatifida, Asclepias ovalifolia, Geum triflorum, Lathyrus venosus, Zizia aptera, Coreopsis palmata, Poa pratensis.
