Habitat: area influenced by groundwater seepage, on gentle northeast-facing slope of ~20-foot high terrace above an old river oxbow. Beneath canopy of Tilia americana, with occasional Fraxinus nigra, F. pennsylvanica, Betula papyrifera, B. allegheniensis, and Picea glauca. Open understory. Moist fine silty sand ... fairly lush herbaceous layer. Associated species include Laportea canadensis, Impatiens capensis, Uvularia grandiflora, Menispermum canadense, Lysimachia ciliata, Galium asprellum, Circaea lutetiana, Osmorhiza longistylis, Asarum canadense, Milium effusum, Bromus ciliatus, Carex pedunculata.
