Habitat: Along the shore...on upper portion of southeasterly-tilted, much-fractured, broad basalt shelf 20-50 feet above lake level. In dry crevices amongst dry mosses. Full sun. Associates include Achillea millefolium, Festuca brachyphylla, Agrostis scabra, Danthonia spicata, Woodsia ilvensis, Lilium philadelphicum, Aralia hispida, Diervilla lonicera, Rubus strigosus, Potentilla tridentata, and seedlings of Picea glauca & Betula papyrifera.
