Habitat: in moist to rather dry crevices of basalt cliffs and outcrops that rise to 50 feet above the lake. In full sun above level of most waves- 20 feet of higher above lake level. Associates include Arabis hirsuta var. pycnocarpa, Campanula rotundifolia, Achillea millefolium, Potentilla tridentata, Festuca brachyphylla var. rydbergii.
