Habitat: On extensive north to northwest-facing cliffs forming the crest of 450-foot ridge ... along 1/4-mile segment including the tallest portions of the mile long diabase feature. Occurring on lower half of the forested cliffs which range here from 75 to 150 feet tall ... In thick moss mats on ledges. Often shaded by Alnus viridis, Sorbus decora, Thuja occidentalis, and Betula cordifolia. Additional associates include Carex scirpodea, C. eburnea C. abdita, C. deflexa, Huperzia selago, H. appalachiana, Gymnocarpium jessoense, Woodsia ilvensis, W. glabella, Saxifraga aizoon, S. virginiensis, Campanula rotundifolia, Solidago hispida, Agrostis scabra.
