Habitat: Rolling, forested terrain...in small opening in mesic oak forest dominated by Quercus rubra & Tilia americana, with Acer saccharum present locally in the understory. Canopy gap due to removal of large Q. rubra individual approximately 10 years earlier. Sandy loam. Associates include Aster macrophyllus, Uvularia grandiflora, U. sessiliflora, Caulophyllum thalictroides, Zanthoxylum americanum, Vitis riparia, and Acer saccharum seedlings.
Description: Local, rather dense pathc.Florocanes low-(moist) to high-arching, to 5+ feet long. Primocanes just beginning to emerge.
