Habitat: In floodplain forest dominated by maturing Acer saccharinum, with frequent Fraxinus pennsylvanica. Open understory. Black silt, in area that floods annually. Additional associates include Carex lupulina, C. radiata, Elymus virginicus, Laportea canadensis, Urtica dioica, Geum canadense, Geranium maculatum, Scutellaria lateriflora, Onoclea sensibilis, Galium obtusum, Lysimachia ciliata, Rudbeckia laciniata, Cuscuta gronovii.
