Habitat: Growing in swamp dominated by small to medium sized tamaracks (14-20cm dbh), with Betula papyrifera, Acer rubrum, and Ulmus rubrum. Canopy moderately dense and shrubs diverse and quite thick. With Impatiens capensis, Thelypteris palustris, Leersia oryzoides, and Polygonum sagittatum.
