Habitat:
on the upper 2/3 of rather steep north-facing slope of a 70 foot sandy terrace. Canopy of Quercus macrocarpa 7 Betula papyrifera. Dense understory of Ostrya virginiana. Sparse shrub layer. Associates include Carex pensylvanica, Anemone quinquefolia, Athyrium angustum, Parthenocissus inserta, Maianthemum canadense, Amphicarpaea bracteata, Aquilegia canadensis, Pyrola secunda.
