Habitat: on igneous rock outcrops under open canopy of Pinus strobus, Acer rubrum & Betula papyrifera. Thin dry soil. Associates include Luzula acuminata, L. multiflroa, Danthonia spicata, Carex cf. umbellata, Maianthemum canadense, Vacciniuim angustifolium.
