Habitat: Large wetland complex; rich fen. Firm sedge mat dominated by Carex lasiocarpa & C. prairea with well-developed, non-Sphagnum moss layer. In full sun. Associates include Eriophorum angustifolium, Calamagrostis inexpansa, hierochloe odorata, Caltha palustris, Lathyrus palustris, Potentilla palustris, Salix candida, S. pedicellaris, S. serissima, S. eriocephala, S. petiolaris, S. bebbiana, Cornus stolonifera. Forming hummocks; in surrounding meadow and marsh also.
