Habitat: Low shrubby area ... Soil silty loam. Occasional Ulmus americana and Fraxinus nigra canopy trees. Four plants growing in shade under U. americana. Other associates include Parthenocissus inserta, Echinocystis lobata, Thalictrum dasycarpum, Circaea lutetiana, Impatiens capensis, Cryptotaenia canadensis, Rudbeckia laciniata, Rhamnus cathartica, Arisaema triphyllum, Salix sp., Urtica dioica, Phalaris arundinacea. Mesic prairie immediately north of shrubby area.
