Habitat: Most of ridge dug up for gravel, topsoil here scraped away long ago. Growing in somewhat sparse vegetation dominated by Poa pratensis and Geum triflorum. Soil coarse, gravelly sand, little topsoil development; Associated with Artemisia ludoviciana, A. frigida, Galium boreale ssp. septentrionale, Panicum linearifolium.
