Habitat: in seepage-fed tamarack swamp dominated by Larix laricina with occasional Fraxinus pennsylvanica & Acer rubrum. On low, mossy hummocks. Associated with Carex leptalea, Maianthemum canadense, Smilacina trifolia, Trientalis borealis, Equisetum hyemale, Cypripedium reginae, C. parviflorum, Platanthera hyperborea, Pyrola asarifolia, Aralia nudicaulis, Smilcaina trifolia, Rubus pubescens, Menyanthes trifoliata, Rhamnus alnifolia, Cornus canadensis, C. alternifolia.
