Habitat: Frequent in rich srhub swamp dominated by tall Betula glandulifera & Salix petiolaris, with very widely scattered canopy of Larix laricina. Saturated, quaky, moss-covered peat substrate. Especially common in wetter depressions. Additional associates include Dryopteris cristata, Equisetum fluviatile, Rubus pubescens, Aster puniceus, A. borealis, Typha sp., Eupatorium maculatum, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Lycopus uniflorus, Cicuta bulbifera, Thelypteris palustris, Phragmites australis, Calamagrostis canadensis, Glyceria canadensis, Carex pseudocyperus, Ribes hirtellum.
