Habitat: in bedrock crevices, moss mats, and on narrow ledges above high water level on basalt cliffs which form the deep, narrow gorge ... Many plants occur in the spray zone below a 20-foot high waterfall. Associates include Campanula rotundifolia, Aquilegia canadensis, Achillea millefolium, Prenanthes alba.
