Habitat:
on the margin of a rather large granite outcrop. Shallow loamy soil near edge of exposed bedrock. In full sun to partial shade of Quercus macrocarpa & Q. ellipsoidalis. Associates include Andropogon gerardii, Poa pratensis, Commandra umbellata, Polygonum convolvulus, Cerastium arvense, Heuchera richardsonii, Hedyotis longifolia, Aster oolentangiensis, Campanula rotundifolia, Allium stellatum.
