Habitat: in calcareous wet-mesic prairie remnant; Moist, dark organic loam. Full sun. Associates include Carex tetanica, C. buxbaumii, C. interior, C. haydenii, Calamagrostis inexpansa, Agrostis stolonifera, Lathyrus palustris, Cirsium muticum, Oenothera perennis, Castilleja coccinea, Lilium philadelphicum, Parnassia glauca, Thelypteris palustris, Thlictrum dasycarpum, Pycnanthemum virginianum, Gentianopsis procera, Polygala senega, Lycopus americanus. Prairie/wetland hayed annually.
