Large conifer wetland complex forming the headwaters ... In rich shrub fen succeeding to tamarack swamp. Full sun to partial shade of young Larix laricina. Saturated peat. Associates include Salix candida, S. pedicullaris, S. lutea, Alnus incana, Carex prairea, C. interior, C. chordorrhiza, C. limosa, C. stricta, Potentilla palustris, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Caltha palustris, Typha cf. glauca.
