Dry sandy soil in oak-aspen woodland ... Associated with Corylus americana, Zanthoxylum americanum, Crataegus macrosperma, C. punctata, C. chrysocarpa.
Description:
A small upright understory tree with ascending branches. A single stem aobut 3 meters tall and 3 cm in diameter. Stamens ca 10, anthers white. No compound thorns; simple thorns long and dark. Est. 3-4 days pre-anthesis (spring 1 1/2 weeks late this yr). Collected from same stem as WRS 26400 (fruiting).
