Patchy understory of Fraxinus nigra, F. pennsylvanica, Ulmus americana, and Alnus incana. Dark organic silt. Associated species include Pilea fontana, Polygonum hydropiper, Onoclea sensibilis, Mentha arvensis, Scutellaria galericulata, Lycopus uniforus, Platanthera psycodes, Carex retrorsa.
