Habitat: in shrubby poor fen / bog in five acre depression surrounded by deciduous forest. Rooted in water on spongy sedge - Sphagnum mat. In partial shade of Betula glandulifera. Associated species include Carex canescens, C. lasciocarpa, Lysimachia thyrsiflora, Salix pedicellaris, Potentilla palustris, Triadenum fraseri, Cicuta bulbifera, Sagittaria latifolia, Scirpus atrovirens, Lobelia siphilitica.
